EGI Community Forum 2014 in Helsinki

The users of the world’s largest distributed data processing infrastructure for research will meet in Helsinki for the EGI Community Forum 2014. 

The EGI Community Forum 2014 will take place from 19–23 May, in Helsinki, Finland.

The event will be hosted by EGI.eu in partnership with the University of Helsinki and CSC - IT Center for Science Ltd.

Join the event that will bring together over 400 researchers, engineers, decision makers and IT people to discuss the use and the future of the computing infrastructure behind the discovery of the Higgs boson using the Large Hadron Collider at CERN.

Hacking into Canada's aid data

Accordig to an article published on Devex, Canada agreed two years to publish its aid data, but most development professionals lack the technological expertise to sift through the pile of information.

That’s why a team of computer programmers, software developers and international development experts met last weekend in Ottawa to work on applications to better analyze the data and thus improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Canadian foreign aid.

Information technology (IT) research firm, Gartner, predicts that the Middle East and North Africa’s (MENA) cloud service market could grow its revenue by 24.5% to $462.3 million in 2013.
 
According to Gartner this is the result of that region’s public cloud services market, which grew by 13.4% in 2012 to $371.2 million, compared to $110 billion worldwide.
 
It was further reported that business process services, the largest segment in the cloud services market, accounted for 38% of the total Middle East and North African market last year.
